Persistent Disk

When using a cloud instance or a virtual machine via cloud services, it is difficult for the user to see the various basic components that makeup it, and as the Compute engine of Google, Companions is one of the powerful services used to manage all aspects of virtual instances in the Google Cloud Platform.

When working on the cloud, computing and storage are often separated when using a virtual cloud machine, so that the instance block is stored separately from the virtual machine and thus managed separately from it, and this allows attachment and separation operations according to needs, which contributes to improving reuse opportunities, availability, and preservation.

GCP Persistent Disk

Here comes the role of a persistent disk where a hard disk is created and attached to a virtual machine or cloud instance to store data on and compute. The hard disk can then be disconnected and reconnected to another virtual machine to complete any other computing operation using the data stored on the hard disk.

Free trial

It can be tried for free from within the free trial of the Google cloud platform for a period of 90 days with a free balance of $ 300 to be spent during this free trial period. After the trial period ends, you will not be transferred to any paid plan as long as you do not request it and you manually upgrade.

Features of GCP Persistent Disk

  • Persistent Disk from Google is characterized as a highly reliable storage disk where automatic hard disk encryption is applied to protect data
  • Affordable price with perfect performance as the SDD provides consistently high performance for workloads and the size of both SDD and HDD drives may reach 64 terabytes.
  • Attach it to instances of the Virtual machine running in Compute Engine or Google Kubernetes Engine
  • Infinite flexibility to change size even while being used by virtual machines without interruption in computing processes
  • Make a quick backup
  • Supporting simultaneous readers so that data is easily shared and the ability for several virtual machines to read data from the hard disk simultaneously without affecting others in terms of performance or total cost.
