Elon Musk announced a decision for his “X” social networking platform, formerly known as “Twitter”, to cancel the blocking feature that allows users to block other accounts. This move sparked another controversy for the company that Musk acquired last year.

X platform

On its platform, users can use the blocking feature to prevent certain accounts from interacting with them, seeing their posts, or following them. Musk announced in a blog post that the ban would be removed as a feature, with the exception of direct messages, according to Reuters.

Furthermore, Musk indicated that will retain the mute feature, which enables the tweets of certain accounts to be hidden, but unlike blocking, those accounts will not be notified of this action.

Although Musk describes himself as an absolute supporter of freedom of expression, there are critics who have deemed his approach irresponsible. Researchers have indicated an increase in the spread of hate speech and anti-Semitic content on the platform since Musk joined it.
