A strategic partnership between Amazon and NXP to connect cars to cloud services

A strategic partnership between Amazon and NXP to connect cars to cloud services, as Dutch chipmaker NXP Semiconductors announced its entry with Amazon Cloud, with a strategic partnership to leverage cloud computing services in AWS to connect cars with data centers.

What new service is NXP seeking?

NXP will create a new chip designed to collect data from vehicle systems and then send it over the Internet to Amazon’s data centers in order to provide an opportunity for car manufacturers to make next-generation vehicle life cycle improvements, as this chip will reflect new data and insights from new systems. The vehicle will allow improvements to be made based on this data using machine learning and direct online updates. Car manufacturers will also be able to monitor cars and know the possibility of car malfunctions even before they happen, allowing them to be repaired better and correct any malfunction.

What is the benefit of this partnership?

With regard to IoT devices, including cars supported by this technology, especially next-generation cars, when data is collected from the car’s IoT systems, it first goes to a central server before processing it and then is sent back to the device for interaction, and this matter needs time to happen, which causes a delay in Response and processing of the command – even if it is in milliseconds – but this is important in this technology, especially in self-driving cars, so benefit from cloud computing services, especially data centers of the Amazon AWS cloud spread around the world, allow the data center processing to be transferred to the device connected to the Internet Real-time objects and processing occurrence giving faster response times.

AWS is by far the largest provider of cloud computing services, and NXP is one of the largest suppliers of computing chips to automakers in the world.
